Perhaps rather ignorantly I had never associated K-Swiss with running shoes, more tennis and casual wear for some reason, so when a brand spanking new pair of Kwicky Blade-Light’s landed on my desk just a week before the London Marathon, I was suitably intrigued. More so, when I found out they were a new release.
Like most of the American Sportswear’s’ product, the K-Swiss Kwicky Blade-Lights look effortlessly cool; this is no mean feat when you consider some of the horrific efforts recently released by their rivals.
Aside from the eye-catching appearance and even before putting the trainer on, you are struck by how light they are.
Weighing in at a modest 8.5oz, the Kwicky Blade-Lights are exactly that and more pertinently they remain so, regardless if you are running in the rain.
The top of the trainers are totally hydrophobic, meaning they repel water thanks to the ION masking coating. This isn’t a gimmick either; in cahoots with the bottom sided drainage system, the Kwicky Blade-Lights retain their 240.97g (8.5oz) weight throughout your run, and even in the most inhospitable London weather.
The same function also repels the inevitable bouts of sweating within the shoe, resulting in a comfier run and presumably prolonging their shelf life too.
Although not partaking in this year’s marathon, I run regularly and often suffer from chronic knee problems in addition to a bad back; habitual complaints for those who have been assiduously preparing for London’s marquee event on Sunday.
The Kwicky Blade-Lights have catered for the frequent, fragile runner by implementing a thick foam heal crash pad, and it must be said, pounding the roads has never been this comfortable.
The dual function mechanism not only cushions your step, providing an unsurpassed durability that defies its slender feel, but also, and for those with a specific marathon time in mind, enables an explosive spring when you shift into gear along the gruelling 26.4 mile run across London.

The seamless, or SEAMFREE technology to those that way inclined, give a plimsoll-like comfort to the feather light trainer which is ideal for longer runs like the marathon.
The Kwicky Blade-Lights claim to marry a host of ultra-modern features which to the untrained runner amount to little more than a complicated sales pitch; Superfoam, Aosta II heel, DURAPLUSH, Dynamic TPU arch support with 3D media posting to name but a few, but, as ever the proof is in the pudding, and they certainly deliver.
To date they are the most comfortable running shoes tried in the Sport.co.uk office and if I was brave enough to be running the marathon in five days, the K-Swiss Kwicky Blade-Lights would my trainer of choice.
Sportco.uk rating:
Featherweight running shoe equally adept in the sun or driving rain which are durable enough for the marathon but perfect for short distances too. A snip at £80.00 RRP and likely to last longer than its rivals. Four stars out of Five.
Also available in a modest Yellow...
